Interview: Michael Gudinski

Michael Gudinski AM has been one of Australian music’s most influential provocateurs for over five decades. As founder and chairman of Mushroom Group, Gudinski has been involved in recording and publishing, concert promotion, venues, merchandising, and in recent times the return of Australian music to prime time television. In this interview, he talks with pride and passion of the challenges our music community has faced, the ways in which they have responded, the spirit inherent in such behaviour and the creativity on show.

As part of our commitment to capturing and sharing great Australian music stories, the Australian Music Vault responded to the challenges of COVID-19 by creating a series of video stories that capture, in real time, the impact that this pandemic has had on the music community.
